Munich Foodtech Startups You Should Know About

What we eat is changing: It should be healthier and, ideally, more sustainable and eco-friendly. That’s where these Munich foodtech startups come in.

Greenforce
Greenforce: The foodtech startup Greenforce is at home in the field of ‘meat alternatives.’ With their ‘most sustainable vegan meat in the world,’ they want to give people an alternative source of protein. Founded in 2020 by Thomas Isermann and Hannes-Benjamin Schmitz, the startup has put products such as vegan burgers, ground meat and meatballs on the market. The pea-based meat alternatives are sold in powder form. It is only after you add water and oil that it becomes equivalent to meat. The company now also offers egg and milk alternatives. The fact that Greenforce is active in a growing market with huge potential was also recognized by the investors Joko Winterscheidt and Michael Käfer, who got on board with the company in late 2021 with a funding round of 15 million euros. The current company valuation of Greenforce is 60 to 90 million euros according to Munich Startup Insights. (Photo: Greenforce)
