Munich Foodtech Startups You Should Know About

What we eat is changing: It should be healthier and, ideally, more sustainable and eco-friendly. That’s where these Munich foodtech startups come in.

Wisefood: The foodtech startup Wisefood, which began as a student project in 2017, wants to revolutionize the plastic disposable tableware market. It all started with edible straws made of plant fibers. The Wisefood product portfolio now includes nearly the whole range of disposable tableware, much of which is edible. In 2020, the three founders Philipp Sibernagel, Patricia Titz and Maximilian Lemk were able to complete a successful funding round amounting to one million euros. Wisefood has also benefitted from the EU-wide ban on single-use plastics, which became effective in July 2021. The company has reported that it currently ships its products to more than 20 countries around the world. The Munich Startup Insights estimates the current company valuation to be between 4 and 6 million euros. (Photo: Wisefood)
